What is PROS Step?
PROS Step™ is an easy-to-use, easy-to-set-up, cloud-based solution that helps companies of all sizes apply the power of science to their data to improve sales effectiveness through micro-segmentation and prescriptive pricing.
What does PROS Step do?

Step puts PROS proven data science to work for your business. Leveraging PROS patent pending data science and learning algorithms, it analyzes your transaction history and automatically generates optimal pricing for each segmented customer group.

Step also compares the optimized pricing strategy against your current pricing practices, providing you with the resulting revenue impact of the prescribed actions. Step empowers you to quickly drill down into the data to pinpoint and rank your biggest and best opportunities based on their likelihood to close.

Is my company a candidate for Step?
Step is specifically designed for business-to-business companies with large numbers of customers, transactions, or standardized products.
What do I need to start using PROS Step?
To start using PROS Step you only need an Internet connection and your data in a comma-separated text file (.csv).
Is there a data template I should use?
You don’t need a data template to use Step. Simple drag-and-drop your file and answer a couple of questions to help Step connect the data you have with what it needs to do the pricing optimization.
What should I include in the input data file?
Step works with transaction data, also known as sales records. It is designed to help you choose the relevant metrics in your data. Step requires a product identifier, transaction date, quantity sold and revenue or unit prices. Also it needs data fields that represent product attributes, customer attributes or transaction attributes. You can include additional metrics like cost, margin or discount if applicable to your business.
How many transactions can I upload?
Step allows files up to 300MB or up to one million rows. You can upload separate files if there is a natural separation in your business by certain criteria.
How do I know if my data was good enough for the analysis?
Step provides – along with the recommendations and the potential uplift opportunity – a data power score and a data validation. The data power score is a number between 0 and 100% that describes how well the data supports the results we provide. The validation report gives details on the quantity and quality of the data in terms of missing values, erroneous records, statistical outliers, and invalid business metric values.
